Vision

Maison d’amitié aspires to be recognized for its excellence and its commitment to the elimination of violence against women in all their diversity, and to the full exercise of their rights.

Mission

Maison d’amitié is a Francophone community organization in Ottawa that welcomes, accompanies, and supports Francophone or French-speaking women affected by intimate partner or family violence, as well as their children, with a view to fostering the reclaiming of control over their lives.

Specialized, Tailored, & Safe Services

We provide specialized, tailored, and safe services within a feminist, inclusive, and respectful framework. Maison d’amitié is the only Francophone shelter in Ottawa, offering a safe environment and support to women who are victims of gender-based violence and to their children. We operate two residences, each with a capacity of 15 beds, and provide 24/7 support through Fem’aide, the provincial support line for Francophone women.

Emergency & Short-Term Shelter

Safe intake, day-and-night accompaniment, and individual support.

At the heart of our shelter, we provide essential support to women and children affected by gender-based violence. We offer a safe, confidential, and welcoming environment where survivors can find immediate refuge and emotional support. We provide guidance, accompaniment, and practical assistance, including safety planning and access to appropriate community resources. Every interaction is guided by respect, empathy, and empowerment, ensuring that every woman and child feels heard, valued, and supported as they take steps toward rebuilding their lives.

Transitional Support Program

Individual interventions, group sessions, safety planning, and practical support as needed.

Through our transitional support program, we provide personalized assistance to women on their path to independence. Residents are supported in the process of finding and accessing safe, stable housing, while also receiving help with safety planning and access to essential community resources. We also accompany residents to important appointments and offer group sessions. This program helps women rebuild confidence and stability and take concrete steps toward a safe and autonomous future.

Fem’aide Line (24/7)

A Francophone support line dedicated to women who are victims of violence or sexual assault, offering listening, guidance, and referrals to appropriate services.

Our provincial 24/7 support line provides immediate and confidential assistance to women facing gender-based violence. Available at all times by phone or online chat, we offer active listening and guidance, and refer callers to resources to support their safety and well-being.

Children’s Program

Age-appropriate activities, psychological support, and a space to play, grow, and feel heard.

Our children’s program provides a safe and caring environment where children affected by family violence can learn, play, and grow. Through structured group activities, homework support, arts workshops, and recreational activities, children are encouraged to express themselves, develop new skills, and build self-confidence. We provide guidance, emotional support, and positive role models, helping children process and understand their experiences in a safe and stimulating setting. Each activity is designed to foster resilience, creativity, and well-being, ensuring that every child feels valued, heard, and supported on their path toward healing and personal development.
